The Alesis iO2 is a rugged, portable 2-channel 24-bit/96k USB audio and MIDI interface housed in a heavy-duty bead blasted aluminum case with tough switches and knobs that are securely bolted on. The iO|2 is built to last and will survive the abuses of the road longer than most of us will. The interface is USB powered so there's no need to worry about finding an AC plug, or carrying around a external power supply.

The IO|2 has two studio quality mic preamps with 48V Phantom Power plus two 1/4" balanced TRS inputs, 1/4" TRS stereo inserts on the input channels, as well as comprehensive metering. The flexible inputs can handle everything from mics to high-Z guitars and basses to keyboards and have channel inserts for outboard processing. The Alesis iO2 even has full MIDI I/O and S/PDIF I/O for direct digital recording.

Both Windows XP and Mac OS X see the Alesis IO|2 as a plug-and play device. No installation is necessary on
Mac OS 10.2. Just connect the USB cable and you're ready to go. Driver installation is not required on Windows XP since the Alesis IO|2 supports the default audio drivers, but Alesis strongly recommends installing the Alesis audio drivers. The Alesis drivers will yield significantly lower latency and better performance.

The ultra-low latency ASIO 2.0 drivers and bundled Cubase LE software make the Alesis IO|2 a complete recording studio for musicians on the go. Just add a computer and you're ready to record right out of the box.

Steinberg Cubase LE is a powerful 48 track audio and 64 track MIDI recording and up to 8 VST instrument hosting sequencing software package with a fantastic sounding 32-bit floating point audio engine. Cubase LE is easy to use, and is supported by both Windows and Mac.
